Opting to bat first, Pakistan openers Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shehzad provided their team with a quick start. However, Sharjeel did not last long and was dismissed in the third over.
Ahmed Shehzad then continued along with Mohammad Hafeez and the duo shared a 95-run stand for the second wicket
After scoring his half century, Shehzad fell in the 14th over. Shahid Afridi then promoted himself up the order and the move worked for Pakistan.
The maverick batsman slammed 19-ball 49 and never allowed Bangladesh to settle. Apart from Afridi’s firepower, Hafeez’s 64 off 42 balls and Shoaib Malik’s quickfire 15 runs helped Pakistan go past 200-run mark.
In reply, Bangladesh lost Soumya Sarkar in the first over and then never looked in contention to chase down the target. With required run-rate swelling, Bangladesh lost important wickets. Afridi struck twice, including Tamim Iqbal’s prized wicket, to put Bangladesh in trouble.
Shakib Al Hassan remained unbeaten on 50 off 40 balls. Mohammad Amir and Afridi picked two wickets while Mohammad Irfan and Imad Wasim chipped in with a wicket.
